I hadn't been to the Jersey Shore since the pre-Snooki era, prior to MTV turning it into a fist-pumping spectacle.
With low expectations and high hopes, we ventured back to Asbury Park. I’m happy to report, we returned home inspired, well-fed, and more relaxed than a chihuahua in a sunbeam.
7 best experiences that made our Asbury Park adventure unforgettable:
- The Boardwalk: A Stroll Down Memory Lane
The Asbury Park Boardwalk is a magical mix of nostalgia, modern charm, and great people watching. Lots of classic boardwalk food options: french fries, pizza, ice cream. **There is no amusement park or games on this boardwalk. But Silverballs Retro Arcade is still in action. - Rocking Out to Fletcher at The Stone Pony: Summer Stage
We scored tickets to see Fletcher perform at the legendary Stone Pony, and it was epic. The venue, is famous for launching music careers for Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi. The outdoor stage makes every concert feel like a hometown party. It also unexpectedly (for us) extra colorful in celebration of Pride month. - Beach Bliss
The beach and the Atlantic were super clean, calm waves, and surprisingly empty. For $6/10 per person in the summer you get access to soft sand, clear water, and plenty of space to spread out. We opted to stay just outside of downtown for a more private beach and Inn experience. *don't attempt to avoid paying for a beach pass, they're actively looking for violators. -
Street Art and Historic Charm
Asbury Park is like an open-air art gallery. The creativity here is brewing, with murals adorning buildings all along the boardwalk. You'll find yourself stopping every few steps to snap a pics. The iconic carousel building, and Asbury Park Steam Plant are a must-see. It's a feast for the eyes and a treasure hunt rolled into one.

Wesley Lake: Venice Italy in NJ?!
Venture away from the ocean, and you'll find a hidden gem: a small lake that feels like it was plucked straight out of Venice. It's a serene, picturesque spot that's perfect for a peaceful stroll or a romantic moment.
- Sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean
There's nothing quite like watching the sunrise over the ocean. It's nature's way of reminding you that the best things in life are free. Grab a coffee, find a comfy spot, and soak in the beauty. Trust me, it's worth getting up early. -
Culinary Delights: Fresh Seafood + Extraordinary Gluten Free Pizza
Asbury Park's food scene is a delicious surprise. From fresh seafood that tastes like it was caught just moments ago, to gluten-free pizza that's so good it should have its own fan club, your taste buds are in for a treat. We found ourselves planning our days around meal times, which, let's be honest, is the sign of a great vacation.
